Happy Thanksgiving!

Origins of Thanksgiving

History of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day first started in New England. It was celebrated to thank God for the abundant harvest of crops. This is usually celebrated in late fall, on the third thursday of november, after all the crops have been harvested.

Real Origins

The Mayflower was an English ship that transported the first English Puritans, known today as the Pilgrims, from Plymouth, England, to the New World in 1620. These were the firsts settlers and also the ones who celebrated the first official Thanksgiving together with the natives.

Thanksgiving in Girona

Here in Spain, people don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. But us, americans, still do. We celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends with a big meal.

The most typical food is : Turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and some delicious bread rolls and pumpkin pie ...

Jake’s experience

Hey I’m Jake. I like thanksgiving, even though it isn’t a big thing here.

I always attend a Thanksgiving party in Barcelona with my family every year, meet a lot of new people, reconnect with old friends and have a great time!

Ian’s experience

Since Thanksgiving isn't an important event here, we celebrate it at home with some of our dearest friends and family .

We cook all the food ourselves , and we usually prepare a nice fancy table so we can enjoy better the meal.

Kaleb’s Experience

I usually don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s not a family thing for us .

The only time I actually celebrated Thanksgiving was when I was only six years old, where Jake’s family and ours rented an enormous house, with three kitchens and a basement with fun and games, I loved it, too bad we don’t celebrate it anymore.
